Ingredients

  • - 12 Savoiardi lady fingers dry, crisp variety
  • - 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • - 1/3 cup 3oz / 85g mascarpone cheese, cold
  • - 2 to 4 tablespoons strongly brewed coffee room temperature or cold
  • - 2 tablespoons cocoa powder for rolling*

Instructions

Crush the Lady Fingers:

  • - Add the lady fingers to a food processor and pulse until very fine. Alternatively, place them in a plastic bag and use a rolling pin to crush them into fine crumbs.

Combine Ingredients:

  • - In a medium bowl, mix the lady finger crumbs, powdered sugar, mascarpone cheese, and 2 tablespoons of coffee. Stir until the mixture sticks together when pinched. If too dry, gradually add more coffee (1 tablespoon at a time) until the desired consistency is reached. If the mixture becomes too soft, refrigerate for 30-60 minutes to firm it up.

Shape the Balls:

  • - Scoop out 1.5 tablespoon-sized portions of the mixture and roll into balls using your hands. A small cookie scoop works well for even portions.

Coat the Balls:

  • - Roll each ball in cocoa powder, ensuring they’re evenly coated. For a sweeter option, coat in powdered sugar, sprinkles, or dip in melted chocolate (see notes).

Serve and Store:

  • - Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to enjoy. Tiramisu balls can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.

Notes

  • Dry and crisp lady fingers work best for this recipe. Avoid soft or cakey varieties as they may alter the consistency.
  • Coating Options: If you don’t prefer the slightly bitter flavor of cocoa powder, try powdered sugar, sprinkles, or coarse sanding sugar. For a chocolate coating, chill the tiramisu balls in the freezer for 15-20 minutes before dipping to prevent them from falling apart.
  • These truffles can also be made ahead for parties or gifting!
