- - 12 Savoiardi lady fingers dry, crisp variety
- - 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- - 1/3 cup 3oz / 85g mascarpone cheese, cold
- - 2 to 4 tablespoons strongly brewed coffee room temperature or cold
- - 2 tablespoons cocoa powder for rolling*
Combine Ingredients:
- In a medium bowl, mix the lady finger crumbs, powdered sugar, mascarpone cheese, and 2 tablespoons of coffee. Stir until the mixture sticks together when pinched. If too dry, gradually add more coffee (1 tablespoon at a time) until the desired consistency is reached. If the mixture becomes too soft, refrigerate for 30-60 minutes to firm it up.
Coat the Balls:
- Roll each ball in cocoa powder, ensuring they’re evenly coated. For a sweeter option, coat in powdered sugar, sprinkles, or dip in melted chocolate (see notes).
- Dry and crisp lady fingers work best for this recipe. Avoid soft or cakey varieties as they may alter the consistency.
- Coating Options: If you don’t prefer the slightly bitter flavor of cocoa powder, try powdered sugar, sprinkles, or coarse sanding sugar. For a chocolate coating, chill the tiramisu balls in the freezer for 15-20 minutes before dipping to prevent them from falling apart.
