Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  • Prepare the Oven and Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan to prevent sticking.
  • Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  • Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Form the Batter: Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined (avoid overmixing).
  • Add Pecans: Fold in the chopped pecans evenly throughout the batter.
  • Bake the Bread: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Cool and Serve: Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and enjoy with a cup of coffee or tea!

Notes

  • Room Temperature Ingredients: Using room-temperature eggs and buttermilk helps the ingredients combine smoothly, resulting in a better texture.
  • Don’t Overmix: Stir until just combined to keep the bread light and tender.
  • Check for Doneness: Insert a toothpick into the center of the bread. If it comes out clean, it’s ready.
