  • - 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • - 1 cup granulated sugar
  • - 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • - 2 large eggs
  • - 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • - 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • - 1/4 tsp salt
  • - 1/2 cup chopped nuts optional
  • - Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for serving optional

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish and set aside.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, sugar, and cocoa powder until smooth.
  • Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the mixture, whisking until well combined.
  • Stir in the flour and salt until just incorporated. Fold in the chopped nuts if using.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pie crust, spreading it evenly.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the center is set and a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Let the pie cool slightly before serving. Top with whipped cream or ice cream if desired.

Notes

  • For a more intense chocolate flavor, use dark cocoa powder
