Susan
These treats are perfect for the holidays or any occasion, with a satisfying crunch and a rich chocolate-toffee flavor that’s hard to resist!
Prep Time 15 minutes mins
Total Time 15 minutes mins
- 1 3/4 cups chow mein noodles
- 3/4 cup salted almonds roughly chopped
- 3/4 cup Heath Bits O' Brickle English Toffee Bits
- 16 oz. chocolate candy coating
Melt the Chocolate
Melt the chocolate candy coating over medium heat on the stovetop or in the microwave, stirring frequently until smooth and fully melted.
Combine Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, add the chow mein noodles, chopped almonds, and English toffee bits, reserving a small amount of toffee bits for topping. Pour the melted chocolate over the mixture and stir until everything is evenly coated.
Form the Haystacks
Using a spoon, drop portions of the mixture onto a sheet of wax paper, shaping each spoonful into a haystack. Sprinkle each haystack with the reserved toffee bits and/or additional chopped almonds for extra crunch and flavor.
Cool and Serve
Allow the haystacks to cool completely at room temperature until the chocolate hardens. Once set, enjoy immediately or store in an airtight container at room temperature.
- Use Fresh Ingredients: Fresh, crunchy chow mein noodles and nuts provide the best flavor and texture.
- Avoid Over-Stirring: Stir just enough to coat the ingredients to prevent the noodles from breaking down too much.
- Setting: Let the haystacks cool at room temperature rather than refrigerating to avoid condensation and keep them crisp.
